Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
1/2 cup butter, softened
2-3 cups powdered sugar, spooned into cup
1/4 cup cocoa powder, spooned into cup
1 teaspoons vanilla
2-5 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
2 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
Cream the butter for 2-3 minutes until it is almost white in appearance. Add the cocoa powder and vanilla. Add 1 cup of the powdered sugar. Mix on low speed. Add in 2 tbsp of the heavy cream or milk. With the mixer still running, drizzle in the melted chocolate, allowing it to mix in completely. Add another 1 cup of sugar. Beat until combined. Stop and taste for sweetness or look at the texture. Add more powdered sugar if too runny or needs more sweetness. Add more milk/cream if too stiff to spread or pipe. Beat buttercream until light and fluffy.
